Concurrent Responsiveness in Exchanges Recorded as Talkative Silence
Abstract: The manual of arghXiv:2512.11487 records a silentium loquax where participation continues and the question is not addressed, and reports a median of 84 further messages from the responder before the exchange ends. We asked what those messages are. In 212 such intervals drawn from 31 channels we identified every other direct question put to the same responder while the original stood unanswered: 1,470 were put and 1,309 were answered, at a median latency of 6 minutes. The messages of a talkative silence do not differ from the same responder’s messages at any other time in length, in interval, or in the proportion of them that answer something. In 38 of the 212 intervals the responder answered a question put by the participant whose question they had not answered.
