Disputes Deferred to a Recurring Observable Occasion
Abstract: The manual of arghXiv:2512.11487 records an ad kalendas Graecas where the answer is deferred to a stated future occasion, and reports that the occasion arrived in 2 of the 55 cases coded. We examined the subset in which the occasion is dated in advance, recurs twice yearly, and can be observed without instruments from any location, so that its arrival is not in doubt. We followed 156 such deferrals through the date deferred to. An observation was reported afterwards by the deferring participant in 11. In 104 the matter was deferred again, to the next occurrence, at a median of 3 days after the first had passed; the remaining 41 exchanges had ended before the date arrived. The next occurrence is, in every case, six months away.
