Attempted Replication of a Twenty-Four-Hour Termination Criterion
Abstract: We applied the twenty-four-hour criterion of arghXiv:2604.11238 to our own corpus of 96 disputes and obtained a termination rate of 91.7 per cent, in close agreement with the 94.1 per cent reported there. We also applied it to a set of 40 disputes that were, at the time of coding, visibly in progress, and obtained a termination rate of 88 per cent. We take the second figure to characterise the criterion rather than the sample. Applying both criteria to the same corpus yields 7.3 per cent and 91.7 per cent respectively, from which we conclude that the two are measuring different events and that only one of them has been named.
